Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously. This document explains exactly how RouteNaija handles your personal information.

1. Introduction

RouteNaija ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your data when you use our platform. By using RouteNaija, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, submit a route, or contact our support team. This includes: your name, phone number, and email address; your vehicle type and fuel preferences; route data including origin, destination, and stops; payment information processed securely through Paystack (we do not store card details directly). We also collect usage data automatically, such as pages visited, features used, and device information, to help us improve the platform.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: provide, operate, and maintain the RouteNaija platform; process transactions and send related communications; personalise your experience and remember your preferences; send you updates, promotional materials, and other information where you have consented; monitor usage to detect and prevent fraud or abuse; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Sharing of Information

We may share your information with: service providers who assist us in operating the platform (such as Google Maps for routing, Paystack for payments, and cloud hosting providers); your vendor or employer if you are a rider using an employer-linked account; law enforcement or government authorities when required by law; and with your consent in any other circumstances. Any service providers we engage are contractually required to protect your data and may only use it to provide services on our behalf.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel who require it to perform their duties. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of data transmitted to our platform.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data; request deletion of your account and associated data; withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time; and lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Bureau (NDPB) if you believe your rights have been violated. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@useroutenaija.com.

7. Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to remember your preferences, maintain your session, and understand how our platform is used. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but some features of the platform may not function correctly if you do. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

8. Contact & Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through a prominent notice on our platform. The date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last updated. For any questions about this policy or our data practices, contact us at privacy@useroutenaija.com or by writing to RouteNaija, Lagos, Nigeria.
